In Hertfordshire there are 203,438 older people (over the age of 60). The older population in Hertfordshire is expanding at a tremendous rate, in 2008 the number of people over the age of 70 increased by 14%. Expectations about quality of life and services, quite rightly, are being raised. Government initiatives such as the National Framework for Older People (NSF) and the Green Paper - Independence, Wellbeing and Choice are helping set the agenda for health and social care.

However, older people, especially those living alone, in poor health or in poverty, may face a variety of problems, such as isolation and loneliness; an inability to get out; reliance on others for shopping and transport; fear of crime and lack of hope for the future. To tackle these issues, and many others, Age UK Hertfordshire offers a wide range of services which provide information, advice, practical support and social inclusion to older people and their carers throughout the county. And demand for our services has never been greater.

Age UK Hertfordshire provides vital services which focus on the needs of older people in the Hertfordshire area.  For more information on these services follow the links to the left.
