Age UK Hertfordshire offers support when needed and encourages volunteers to attend information sessions which provide an opportunity to learn about attitudes to ageing, understand older people's needs and develop listening skills and a chance to meet with other volunteers. Out of pocket expenses are paid monthly.
All prospective volunteers are required to complete a registration form and provide references which are taken up by the organisation. Criminal Record Bureau checks are also made, depending on the role.
