InTouch phone support
InTouch is a new countywide telephone support service being launched on 4th January 2010. This free service is tailored to support older people who are currently not receiving support from any statutory service because their needs may not require that level of support. It will ensure that non-medical specialist support, which is vital to health and wellbeing, is available to older people at a time that is convenient to them and when it is most needed.
Trained staff and volunteers will provide telephone support, for example:
- following a fall
- after a bereavement
- following a stay in hospital
- when a move to sheltered accommodation is being considered or has recently taken place
InTouch aims to help older people to live independently in their own homes for longer with increased health and wellbeing. The service will be available to people aged 50 and over and referrals can be made by statutory providers such as Adult Care Services, Hertfordshire County Council, GP practices and other voluntary organisations.
